Introduced
in 1987, the UCC system is a high quality cartridge system which
has been painstakingly optimized for flexibility and ease of handling.
We offer a high quality product at a fraction of the cost. The
cartridge insert is simply a 1/4" stainless steel tube with
KEL-F plugs at either end. The complete system is entirely fingertight
and does not require the use of wrenches or spanners.
Our cartridge
holders and inserts are compatible with standard 'off-the-shelf'
HPLC end-fittings. We offer a wide range of easy to use accessories
to enhance the basic UCC system. These include a simple guard
column adaptor and a convenient column coupler.
The basic
cartridge holder is not only compatible with 4.6mm i.d. columns,
but also with narrow bore columns of 3.2 and 2.1mm internal diameter.
Larger sized holders are also available for prepartative and semi
preparative cartridges.
Colour
Coding System
A common problem with cartridge designs is that some
HPLC solvents can gradually wash away the information that is
kept on the cartridge labels such as flow direction, particle
size, bonded phase etc. We have overcome this problem by introducing
colour coded cartridges. All cartridge inserts are coated with
an attractive solvent resistant polymer coating in various colours.
Each bonded phase has its own designated colour for easy identification.

Connecting Union |
|
 |
The
UCC connecting union can be used to couple two UCC columns
together quickly and easily.
This may be used to connect together two shorter columns
in situations where a longer column is desirable but not
available, or alternatively, it may be used to modify the
system selectivity by coupling columns of different phases
together.

| Guard
Column Holder |
|
 |
The
guard column holder is designed for connecting UCC guard
cartidges to conventional style columns. It can also be
used as a holder for a short column in situations where
a very short column is required for rapid method delvopment
experiments. Two end fittings (CS100 or CS100V) are required
for each guard column holder.

Guard Column Adaptor |
|
 |
The
guard column adaptor attaches directly to the top of the
UCC cartridge holder. The guard column insert can then simply
be placed in the holder and the end fitting screwed into
the holder. This produces a zero dead volume butt connection
between the guard column and the analytical column for maximum
efficiency. The guard column adaptor accepts standard 1/4"
end fittings. The guard column holder and the guard column
holder (above) can conveniently be coupled together to produce
a 5cm catridge holder.

The
hexigrip spanner slides over the injector side end fittings
to provide a better grip when connecting fingertight cartridges.
It is suitable for both Swagelok and Parker style fittings.

Plug
Removers |
|
 |
A special
feature of the UCC system is the ability to remove the column
end plugs for user maintenance of column top. For this purpose
there is a plug removing tool and a special PTFE dressing
tool which flattens the bed after topping up by the user
and removes precisely the correct amount of packing material
to accommodate the plug.
