Background
EKT
is a division of Capital HPLC Limited founded specifically
to address the growing requirement for quality products and services
for the rapidly developing area of capillary electrophoresis and
related electro-separation techniques.
At EKT it
is our aim to provide the same level of quality in our innovative
products and expert analytical services as those currently enjoyed
by our LC customers.
Capital HPLC
limited was established in 1984 by former academic research scientists
from the University of Edinburgh. A realisation of the true benefits
of fundamental research led to the creation of a strong in-house
research group with the objective of investigating the latest
developments in separation science at that time. Since these early
days capillary electrophoresis with its related techniques has
been one of the focal points of our research activities. This
subsequently led to Capital HPLC becoming in 1989 the first commercial
organisation to have an active research programme into the exciting
new science of capillary electrochromatography.
Among the
many achievements over the last few years has been the invention
of Pressurised Bubble Suppression Technology which made the reliable
operation of packed capillary electrochromatography possible for
the first time. Not surprisingly, this technique has now been
incorporated into commercial capillary electrophoresis instruments.
Now that the
analytical world is catching up on this technology, it has become
clear to us that it was necessary to establish a new division
completely dedicated to electro-separation methods. This realisation
has led to the formation of Electro-Kinetic Technologies.
