Capital HPLC was founded in Edinburgh in 1984 by former academic research scientists from the world renowned Wolfson Chromatography Unit at the University of Edinburgh. The company is a quality supplier of packed HPLC columns and accessories, with a reputation for quality and service which is second to none. The company's position in the market was strengthened further in the late eighties by its introduction of the world's first fingertight ferruless cartridge system (UCC) which has been highly commended by chromatographers world-wide. This cartridge system which incorporates a unique colour coding scheme has been successful beyond all expectations. The company has recently expanded its production capacity by relocating its headquarters to new custom built premises and currently has fifteen employees. Philosophy Capital HPLC's philosophy has always been of quality and choice. Quality is considered to be of paramount importance, with each column going through a most stringent quality control procedure before dispatch. Capital HPLC also believe in the importance of providing their customers with the widest possible range of packing materials (from Adsorbosphere through to Zorbax), all of which can be supplied in cartridge and column formats from preparative down to narrow bore. Research Activities Capital HPLC has never abandoned its academic origins and strives to remain at the forefront of developments in separation science. The company has a strong and dynamic research group which is particularly active in capillary LC, electrochromatography and the development of new chiral stationary phases. Over the last five years the company has won several British government innovation awards for their R & D efforts. Capitals HPLC's current product range includes: UCC System The UCC - Universal Cartridge Column represents a unique design of cartridge system which includes a comprehensive range of accessories and is exceptionally user friendly. The UCC incorporates an attractive colour coding system for immediate identification of the cartridge contents. Conventional Columns High quality conventional format LC columns are available packed with any commercially available stationary phase. Speciality Phases Inertpak and Inertsil ODS-3, highly purified and uniquely bonded silicas with enhanced chemical stability and a high degree of inertness towards basic compounds resulting in improved peak shape. Cap-Sep Series Solid phase extraction system Narrow Bore Columns High performance narrow bore LC columns with internal diameters ranging from 0.3mm to 2.1mm. The 2.1mm i.d. columns are also available as UCC compatible cartridges. Packed Capillaries Packed fused silica capillaries with a unique integral flow cell for use in pressure driven or electrically driven LC. In addtion to the above, the company also stocks a large range of LC columns for chiral applications and a full range of LC accessories including PEEK fittings, solvent savers, data acquisition systems etc. Capital HPLC receive orders from pharmaceutical companies across Europe, the Far East and the United States.
